I love TBBT and while I understand the reasons given in this post, I don’t agree with them. I consider myself quite nerdy, and I laugh because I identify with the characters…so basically I’m laughing at myself. And I figure if you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at? 

But there was something else that bothered me about the original tumblr post. I couldn’t figure out why at first, but after I shared it with a couple of friends, and also watching the newest episode of TBBT with these points in mind (and still not agreeing with it), I figured it out: The original post has a hipster vibe to it. It reads to me like someone who is upset that nerds are now “cool” and “mainstream”. 

I do understand why people might be put off by TBBT, but I just don’t get that when I’m watching the show. But I DO think it’s cool how the show has made the nerds cool - and not by making fun of them.
